      The  beautiful  and  historic  town  of
      Stellenbosch is situated on the banks
      of  the  Eerste  (First)  River  and  sur-
      rounded  by  spectacular  mountain
      ranges and world famous winelands.
      Stellenbosch  is  the  second  oldest
      town in South Africa, founded by Si-
      mon van der Stel in 1679, and is also
      sometimes referred to as “Eikestad”
      due to the large number of oak trees
      which lines many of its streets.

      of  the  Cape  Dutch  style  of  archi-
