Muratie Wine Estate

The home of world-class wines
Located in the Knorhoek Valley north of Stellenbosch, Muratie dates back to 1685 when it
was granted by Simon van der Stel, then Governor of the Cape of Good Hope, to German
soldier Laurens Campher. Through the centuries Muratie, one of the oldest wine estates
in South Africa, had several other colourful owners and is currently under the stewardship
of the Melck family, who are deeply rooted here. Here time stands still and centuries of
fascinating stories live on. Immerse yourself in the tastes, the sights, the sounds and the
warm welcome of a truly authentic Cape wine farm.
